Hey there! Today we have a guest with us... my mom! We're here writing about our fun weekend together and just wanted to share it with the world! So as everyone knows AJ is away on "business" and my sweet mom drove out here with me so I'm not alone! My mom hasn't been to SF before so I was excited to take her into the city.

Our weekend started out with taking the train into downtown SF Saturday morning. We started at the {farmers market} and tasted so many wonderful things! Things my mom hasn't tried before, which made it extra fun! It was full of lots of crazy characters (as you can imagine), smells and sights! It was right close to the bay bridge so we got some great pictures with the bridge in the background.

Next we hopped on a street car and rode up the MANY hills to {China town}.

Full of lots of touristy crap, it was an interesting sight. Really fun, but very touristy. It was really cool to hear all the Chinese people out on the streets speaking Chinese. We read in a book that until 1950 the Chinese were only allowed to live in these few blocks. Since then they've obviously spread out but there were still LOTS of locals shopping around.

After that we walked down to {Fishermans Wharf} where we rented some bikes and rode across the {Golden Gate Bridge}.

It was quite windy and pretty strenuous, but so fun! My mom was awesome at dinging her little bell to alert pedestrians that we were coming:) A natural city girl.

After that we enjoyed some delicious lunch right on fishermans wharf and were blessed enough to have a little show while we were eating lunch.

This homeless man was sitting right next to the garbage can with his shield of leaves and would jump out and scare passer-bys. He would then proceed to ask them to "pay him". HAHAHA! Everyone would respond with "pay you to scare me?!?!" But the best part was that he scared everyone! Little kids, old Japanese men, women on their cell phones, teenagers, etc. It was just TOOOOO funny! Afterwards we gave him a couple bucks for making us laugh so hard. Bless her heart, my mom has never been exposed to so many crazies in such a short period of time!

We enjoyed some great crepes on {Pier 39} and afterwards headed home... yes it was New Years Eve, but these ladies had a busy day and couldn't quite make it till midnight. Don't judge us.

Sunday we got up and went to church and went back into the city to see a couple more sights. We enjoyed a little {Japanese Tea Garden} in (huge) Golden Gate Park. It was a really pretty park with lots to do! Great for the family! If AJ and I ever find ourselves living in the city with kids, I want to be close to that park:)

We next drove around {Pacific Heights}, which is this totally posh neighborhood where the {Painted Sisters} reside. The Painted Sisters are this group of 6 homes that are all painted different, for a reason that I forget! If you're really curious, look it up online:) For those of you who loved watching Full House, the house where they lived is one of the 6 painted sisters.

We also stopped by the {Mrs. Doubtfire} house! Haha really crazy.

Last stop on our list was...

You go and all the sushi is on little boats that you pick from!

Super fun concept and fun to pick sushi from.... but awful service! If you go there, just enjoy the novelty of what you're doing and forget that the waitress doesn't even know what you're eating (and she's Chinese) AND she doesn't answer you're questions. Other than that... so fun!

So that's about it! Our time in the city was so fun, but now we're back at the nicest hotel in town... the cottage;) Tomorrow is mega decorating day. So get excited!!
